How do I get my orange tree to grow....?

My orange tree was going good until it just... stoped growing. We figured out about half a year later that my dog was peeing on it. Now the strange thing is that orangie (we named it) was still alive after two years and it grows small oranges from time to time so its not dead yet. We put a small fence around it so my dog would stop peeing on it and it has been about a year and orangie still has not grown at all! Can any one tell me how to get it to grow again?

How do I get my orange tree to grow....?
ok so a few suggestions

- trim the grass back from 1m around the base

- put in a nice mulch around the base but not touching the tree trunk

- give the tree a nice feed of citrus fertiliser

- apply some trace elements to the soil area

- trim the tree back a little

- gic eth tree a spray with white oil to keep the bugs and othe things off.

now water twice a week for the next month

this should bring results.

if there is no difference in 2 months, the thing you need to think about is do i really want oranges, how old is this tree, do i wait 2 more poor seasons before ripping it out and oputting in new one.

I had my favourite mandarin tree start to suffer and wilt and i perservered for 2 seasons with poor fruit. then i ripped it up and really made sure i treated the new one with care!!!
Reply:I guess I need a bit more information. Are the leaves turning yellow? Are they falling off? Where are you growing this tree? What type of soil is the area where the tree is planted?

Since I do not know specifics, I would point to either watering or nitrogen. Citrus love water and sunshine. If the leaves are turning yellow, that tends to indicate a nitrogen deficiency.
Reply:maybe it went dormant... maybe it wil produce next year...wait and see
