How do you keep bugs and deer from eating my herbs and orange tree from my patio?

I have a small herb garden and a dwarf orange tree and I want to know if there are any organic methods for keeping the bugs and deer away. Also, I bought a miracle fruit tree which is an indoor tree and I don't know how to keep it from dying completely. Right now it only has half the tree with dry leaves. I water once to twice a week depending on weather, but try to keep it moist without causing root rot. It has not grown since I bought it 2 months ago.

Thanks

Regarding your miracle fruit tree. Read the following care instructions and compare against what you are doing:

Regarding keeping deer and bugs away from your garden. The only surefire way to keep deer out is a fence of 6 feet. Garden centers sell lots of things to keep them out. The only thing I heard that actually worked was a motion activated sprinkler that sprays the deer with water when motion is detected at night. They also sell fox or coyote urine, but I have not heard good nor bad about their success.
Reply:I don't know about the bugs, but my family adopted a dog a few months back, and my mom says the deer haven't set foot in her yard since. her porchilacka (i'm sure i butchered the spelling) has never looked so good! the dog is mostly inside, too. I actually witnessed the deer take a complete left turn to avoid going through moms yard and into the woods.

Pretty neat...

Good luck with your garden
Reply:If I were in your shoes I would check with the botany department at your local college or at some college close to you. Also, for relief for your small tree, you might want to have a conversation with someone who owns a small nursery. Large nurseries or chain nurseries usually do not have people that know to much about different plants. So go with someone who owns a nursery that is well-established and has been in that business for some time. I hope everything works out well for your plants and trees.
Reply:OK, I don't know about bugs - especially deer ticks, cause the bring Lime Disease - but urine is the key.

Coyote urine is very good - luckily you don't have to collect it yourself, the guy at the store does it. Try any Feed %26amp; Grain, they will likely carry it.

It is expensive, however. You can 'cut' it with water, or your dog's urine, but I just use my own. It goes farther. The first pee of the day is strongest. I'd mix 50/50 with Coyote urine.

Now put it in a pump sprayer and spray all the bushes.

Yews, Arborvaeties, broad leafed evergreens are what deers like best, so give those a good soaking.

If you don't have neighbors, try to 'go outside' near the bushes as often as possible because deer hate that. Feces also helps - I think it scares the deer. Scares me to think about it, but is *does* work.

What size are your deer? Try putting cans on strings with small stones inside, they rattle and scare deer away when the buggers start munching.

God I hate deer!
Reply:i forget what these bugs r called, but u put them on Ur plants, and they eat all the bug and make other animals go away. and the plant inside, just make sure its in ALOT of sun.
Reply:i have heard that urine will keep deer away.... you could pour some onto the ground around your plant/tree... they do have organic pesticides at home stores like home depot, tru value, lowes, etc....
