I have a three month old kitten that has gone missing and have seen something lurking around that has bright glowing orange eyes when a flashlight is shined on it. Could it be a dog or raccoon?
What has orange eyes when a light is shined on it at night?
I'm sorry to hear about your kitten.
The orange eyes sounds like a fox and yes there are foxs living in citys.
Reply:Either. How big is it?
Reply:that could be any of dozens of kinds of animals, be careful
Reply:Just about any animal can have those kind of eyes. It's the light reflecting off of their pupils that you're seeing.
Don't approach it unless you can see clearly that's it's your cat, it could be anything from your cat, to some rabid animal running the neighborhood.

I just bought an orange turtleneck sweatshirt and blue jeans with orange rinestones on the back?
What do you think? Nice outfit?
I personally love it but I want your opinion.
+ I love how the turtleneck has these 3 big orange buttons it adds style to it and the jeans are soo tight so it all adds up pretty well.
I bought the complete outfit today at the mall for $17, what do you think of the price, to?

Excellent fashion choice. As long as the sweater is doesnt have that oversized neck youll be set. I also think that its a great color choice especially now that its fall.
Reply:Sounds cute and I love the price.
Reply:I think you got a awesome deal. good for you. It sounds really cute to.
Reply:sounds very cute
and GREAT price!! enjoy it!
Reply:The style isn't really something I'd prefer. I think of sweaters as being not really form fitting, but it sounds like the jeans are. If one thing is form fitting then the other could be. It may make you look really fat up top and then chicken legs below.
Reply:It sounds pretty! And a good deal, too!
Can I make a suggestion? You mention that the jeans are very tight. I know that's the style, but guys are so visual that they are going to be looking at your body in your tight jeans, not you. Do you really want to present yourself this way? Just wanted to mention how others may perceive you just by what you wear.
I know you didn't ask about that part, but you did mention how they fit.
Other than that, it sounds like a cute outfit at a great price.
Reply:The price is nice, but it sounds kind of trashy to me - rhinestones worn by anyone who is not a country-western singer is just wrong.
Reply:Great price, but sounds too matchy matchy. However, if you like it, then by all means you wear the HELL out of it!
Reply:Its probably on sale because halloween is over
Reply:its nice
Reply:sounds nice...great price! should have posted pictures to judge better.
Reply:might make you look like an upside-down pumpkin....sorry
Reply:im not really into turtlenecks, i feel choked up when i wear one lol
however, for you, it sounds like a cute outfit. Plus a great price! If you had bought orange colored jeans, that would just be tacky.Hope you bought a regular blue color jean. Another thing will be cute with the outfit, dark colored jewelry

Where can I get a massive list of orange trees online or help identifying a tree?
My family has a tree in their yard. My stepfather got the tree from his sister 10+ years ago. I was told then that it was a water something or something with "water" in the title. He has passed away so I cannot ask. I have asked a local (orlando) orange coneseur about this and he cannot determine it what it is. I was wondering if theres an online database that I can search with or without photos? I can email pictures to anyone that needs them. OH, let me add... They are normally bi-annual and rather large.
Where can I get a massive list of orange trees online or help identifying a tree?
Contact your local Cooperative extension.(the agriculture Dept.)Take a piece of it in along with a picture of the entire tree. The master garderners have rescources that will identify the tree. Master gardeners have to work so many hours as public service after getting the master gardener title. It's free. They are there for just such purposes.

What does it mean when the moon is orange like tonight?
I just looked outside and the moon is glowing orange does anyone know what it means ?
What does it mean when the moon is orange like tonight?
This effect is caused by the atmosphere of the earth. The reason for the orange color is due to the scattering of light by the atmosphere. When the moon is near the horizon, the moonlight must pass through much more atmosphere than when the moon is directly overhead. By the time the moonlight reaches your eyes, the blue, green, and purple pieces of visible light have been scattered away by air molecules. That's why you only see yellow, orange, or red.
The moon can have an orange color at any time of the year. Sometimes the moon appears orange even when it's directly overhead. This occurs when there's a lot of dust, smoke, or pollution in the atmosphere. The size of those particles will determine the type of color you will see.
Reply:It is due to the diffraction of light through Earth's atmosphere. Blue light scatters easy and only the reddish hues of light remain when it goes partial halfway through Earth's atmosphere. By the same principle, during the day the sky is blue and at twilight the sun is orange/red.
Physics is truly amazing isn't it?
Reply:There is a lunar eclipse going on. These happen once a month.
Reply:I'm not sure if this is true or not, cant even tell you when or where I heard it. But I heard that if the moon is closer it appears orange.
Reply:One of two things. Either it's low in the sky so the color is affected by the atmosphere or there is moisture, dust and polution in the air.
Reply:It's called a Harvest Moon. Not sure what causes it. Beautiful, isn't it?
Reply:Best ignore the previous answer.
1) There is no lunar eclipse today, yesterday or anytime near to now.
2) Lunar eclipses to NOT happen every month.
(But there is one next month. March 3rd. 2244 to 2358 GMT. Visible from Europe %26amp; Africa, even India, but not from not N.America/East Asia. At this time the moon will look more red than orange).
If the moon looked orange it was due to being low, and the light passing through 3+ times more atmosphere than when overhead, esp. if viewed through city smog (or more unlikely, a recent volcanic eruption!).
Reply:the reason for the orange color is due to the scattering of light by the atmosphere. When the moon is near the horizon, the moonlight has to pass through much more atmosphere than when the moon is directly overhead. By the time the moonlight reaches your eyes, most of the shorter waves (green, blue, violet) of visible light have been scattered away by air molecules. You only see the longer wavelength of yellow, orange, or red.

What is a good seasoning to go with Orange Ruffy fish?
I have some orange ruffy fillets in the freezer. I sauteed one the other day in canola oil with garlic and some generic seasoning that was just laying around. It was mediocre.
I would like to know what are some better seasonings for fish. I like garlic as a seasoning, but I really don't know much about cooking fish.
Please advise.
What is a good seasoning to go with Orange Ruffy fish?
ORANGE ROUGHY PARMESAN
2 lb. orange roughy
2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
1/2 c. freshly grated Parmesan cheese
4 tbsp. butter, softened
3 tbsp. mayonnaise
3 tbsp. chopped green onions
1/4 tsp. salt
Pepper and Tabasco
In a buttered baking dish, place fillets in a single layer. Brush with lemon juice. Let stand for 10 minutes.
In small bowl combine cheese, butter, mayonnaise, green onion, salt, pepper and Tabasco.
Broil fillets 3 to 4 inches (under preheated broiler) for 5-6 minutes. Pour off excess liquid. Spread with cheese mixture and broil for an additional 2-3 minutes. Watch closely.
Reply:Orange Roughy
A frozen package with 2 roughy's, about 1 lb., will do.
Usually you can find 6 oz. of dried Porcini Mushrooms where the mushrooms are at the grocery store, and they have to be reconstituted. By that I mean you put them in water for 10 minutes or so, or until they become soft (about a cup). Reserve the juices from the mushroom flavored water.
Heat your skillet with 2 tbs. olive oil and 2 tbs. of real butter, sprinkle corn meal flour and my dry rub seasoning (this is in a link in the e-mail recipe newsletter) over the Roughy and place in the skilllet. 3 minutes on one side and 2 on the other.
Put them in a 325 degree preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the skillet from the oven and place the Orange Roughy on a plat. Return the skillet to the stove top and add 1 tbs. of butter and the remaining mushroom stock. With a wooden spoon, preferrably, scrape off the browness of the fish. You are deglazing the pan. Then add your mushrooms and saute for about 3 - 5 minutes. Then pour over the Orange Roughy. There ya have it!
Reply:i would make some tomatoe sauce with garlic, basil and sugar. then fry the fish in veg oil and pour the sauce over it. The recipe for tomato sauce is in the link.

Reply:Toss some parsley on it in a shallow baking dish. Melt 1/4 c. butter and add 2 tsp. lemon, 1 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper (or to taste).Bake covered at 350 degrees for 10 minutes in oven. Bake another 6-10 minutes uncovered until fish flakes. Serve with some lemon wedges, yummy.
Reply:thats actually a pretty tasty fish...u can just sautè with extra virgin olive oil salt and pepper.
Reply:you really should not be eating orange ruffe, this is an endangered species, there are many really great alternatives that you can choose from. get yourself a copy of the seafood watch guide from the monterey bay aquarium. this gives lists of all sustainable fish populations that are available in 7 regions that cover the whole USA.
a little white wine, lemon juice, butter, salt %26amp; pepper %26amp; fresh tarragon would be a good seasoning though.

How To put on fake tanner without getting orange?
Is there a specific way to apply tanner or a specific thing to put on it to reduce the orange-y-ness?
How To put on fake tanner without getting orange?
pick a good tanner. I use jergens. get a gradual tanner and only use it for a few days at a time.
Reply:I have found Jergen's Natural Glow to be the best. It is easy to apply, no streaks, no orange and it gets darker gradually as you add more to your desired tone. You can choose light, medium, and I think dark varieties.
Reply:It's all about what tanner you choose and what skin tone you have i would suggest a lotion with a tanner in it that gradually builds your tan.

Does the canary island date palm have the orange/yellow berries?
I have a huge tree that looks like the photos of the canary island date palm. Mine gets huge clusters of yellow/orange berries. is this the canary island date palm? A landscaper told me that to buy that tree is about $6 grand. Is that true also?
Does the canary island date palm have the orange/yellow berries?
Hey Schmidt,
The wikpedia entry gives some details on identification and some very good pictures (don't know why the first part is white space). The fruit on these palms looks orange/yellow. If you had a full grown Canary Island Date Palm brought to your location and planted, it might cost $6 grand. Look around though, many landscapers just want to make money. you might find a palm tree grower that delivers and plants it for less.
Canary Island Date Palm Tree price(s):
2 feet tall $24.80
2 1/2 feet tall $39.95
3 1/2 feet tall $95.60
4 1/2 feet tall $139.70
5 feet tall $197.60
6-7 feet tall $297.00
7-8 feet tall $379.60
8-10 feet tall $425.50
12 feet tall $1350.00
Bigger, you can expect 16 foot would be $4000 or more.

How can I make my hair a brownish orange?
I know everyone finds orange hideous, but i want to try it out to see if it looks modern with my hair style. I have dark brown hair and now I dyed it Strawberry blonde (it looks more like a brownish-strawberry auburn color; dark red) and I don't know where to go from here. I don't want to bleach it though???
How can I make my hair a brownish orange?
dye it again. the color you want.
Reply:Since it is already a dark red it will take a little work to get it to a orange brown that I call Copper. Copper is a great color for warm skin tones and dark eyes. First you must strip your hair to get past the red stage...then you can put a copper color on it. If it comes out too warm after stripping the color out, apply a natural brown all over because the warmth will still show through without being too bright. Good Luck. If you think it will be too much work I would go to the professionals before you mess up your hair too much.
Reply:Dye your hair.
Reply:If you have dark hair, want it an orangy color, don't want to bleach it but want to use an over the counter color then I would say go for something lighter than your actual color. You can probably even pick a blonde haircolor (not bleach since you don't want to bleach it) and color it with that...it should lighten it enough. If not, you may have to use bleach to get what you want. If it makes it too light then you can pick the color you want (try a semi permanent so you don't fry your hair) and dye it again.

Call your local chapter of the National Association of Homebuilders. They will give you a list of member "Registered Remodelers" in your area.
Reply:If you want a really good job done, and money isn't necessarily an issue, contact Warner Constructors in Glendale. I know it's a hike, but they do commercial and residential. They're well known, well connected and, most importantly, WELL respected in the construction/build-out/renovation community.

Reply:If you want a really good job done, and money isn't necessarily an issue, contact Warner Constructors in Glendale. I know it's a hike, but they do commercial and residential. They're well known, well connected and, most importantly, WELL respected in the construction/build-out/renovation community.
Good Luck.

Why do Orange Sodas have a lot more sugar than other kinds?
I noticed that some orange pop brands, such as Cactus Cooler and Sunkist, have 40 grams and upwards of sugar. Brands like Coca-Cola and Sprite only had around 30 grams. Just wondering why.
Why do Orange Sodas have a lot more sugar than other kinds?
i thinkthat if they use any real orange juice at all, or flavoring, the added citrus acid increases the total amoutnt of sugar. and lemony fresh scent! i mean orangey fresh taste...
Reply:no idea,
Reply:that is cause they have artifical flavoring and color cause it is called orange...plus they want it to taste very good so they add loads of sugar so kids will get addicted

What is a healthy afternoon snack that includes orange?
What is a good afternoon snack that includes orange? What else can I eat with it? Or what other fruits are better to eat in the afternoon?
What is a healthy afternoon snack that includes orange?
Fruits have natural sugar in them, so the orange is a good source of Vitamin C as well as fiber. I would suggest apples, bananas, blueberries, strawberries; you can even make a fruit salad by cutting up all the above fruit in a bowl and have it for your afternoon snack replacing it every few days. Use any fruit you find appetizing. It is all good!
Reply:Salad.Better fruits are like apples,pears
Reply:A light orange mocha frappuccino! Kidding, LOL. Its low-cal, but not that healthy. And not really orange.
I think and orange with one square of extra dark chocolate and a glass of nonfat milk sounds like a fine filling yet satisfying and craving curing snack. Almost all fruits are healthy and make great snacks. Rasberries are probably the best because they're PACKED with fiber and antoxidants.
Reply:Dark Chocolate. High in anioxidant which are very good for you and it taste great, just don't over do it or you lose that healthy thing... If you want to try something different there is a chocolate sub. out there called carob that is very good and 100% natural... Banannas are great, they have things to keep your energy up and make you feel fuller longer, I eat them with breakfast every AM b/c I have horrid leg cramps if I don't.

How do i avoid orange feel when painting?
i painted a tail gate in my auto body class but it was orange peeled all over, now i am sanding the peel out, how can i avoid the orange peel all together?
How do i avoid orange feel when painting?
You could have a couple of problems here, or a combination of both.
First, the paint could have been too thick. You should have checked the viscosity before using it, and adjusted it accordingly.
Secondly... your sprayer may not be the right one for the job, or you may have the wrong tip/settings in place for it. Some tasks, paints, require a better atomization of the paint/finish ... and some guns are simply not up to it. Pneumatic sprayers can provide the best atomization of finishes, and there are different levels of quality and options in spray guns. Electric sprayers are cheaper, but cannot compare to the quality of the spray a pneumatic gun will produce.
Not knowing what kind of paint or sprayer you used... I would suggest the following... contact the paint manufacturer, and ask them what type of equipment works the best for their product.
You can also do some online research between different manufacturers of spray guns/systems.
Have Fun
Reply:wipe the area down with acetone let it flash then paint.
Reply:thin the paint a little more and apply multiple thin coats
Funny a 50 thosand dollar escalade has factory orange peel in the powdwer coat
look around if u know what orange peel is u will ba amazed at how bad factory paint is
Reply:They have an additive that allows the paint to flow smoother...but when you use it you have to go very slow. Too heavy of a coat and you'll have an ugly run.
You can apply another coat within a minute or two without having to wait for a complete dry time....that way you don't have to sand between coats. It's really the same coat...but you are not applying a heavy layer...just a lot of thinner layers.

Is it bad to plant a lemon tree close to an orange tree?
Someone told me that if you plant a lemon tree close to an orange tree that the taste of the oranges will change (for the worse). Does anybody know this to be true?
Is it bad to plant a lemon tree close to an orange tree?
No. that's ridiculous. You can graft lemon branches and orange branches onto the same citrus tree, and the different branches will still produce fruit of the proper kind. It's called a "Fruit salad tree."
I know two people who have them, as well as actual lemon trees, and actual orange trees growing safely together in the same garden without any problems with their flavor. I know a lot of people with just the lemon, and orange, and sometimes tangerines, grapefruit, tangelos, navels, valencias, blood oranges and cumquats. Also, UC riverside has a grove with all kinds of different citrus plants growing together on a couple acres of land. Each one produces it's own citrus fruit.
Of course, if your lemon, and orange tree make flowers at the same time, it is possible that they will cross-pollinate, but that will only change the nature of the seeds, not of the fruit itself, and you will not get any freaky lemoranges, or whatever growing unless you plant A LOT of the seeds to make new trees, which rarely works anyway.
Reply:Possible, logically. If u plant a durian tree close to an apple tree, what do u think?
Reply:no problem they are both citrus fruites requiring the same conditions.
Reply:you will get loranges.......duh!..........
Reply:you'd get Oraemon fruits which r quite tasty
Reply:You will get 'Lemorange' and I think the taste will turn sour
Reply:you might make ormens
Reply:Is true, but you can pour sugar on an orange tree's roots to make taste better.
Reply:I guess the only thing you would worry about( if you're a worrier) is cross pollination.I guess you would end up with some strange fruit but I had an apple and a pear tree close together and nothing happened so it might be OK for the orange and lemon trees since they are both citrus trees.
Reply:orange......lemon.......orange......lemo...
well planting a lemon tree next to and orange doesnt nesesarily mean it will change, it will probably end up the same unless fused together.........weird question.....
Reply:what they are saying is it depends on how much they cross polinate and how much you like the taste.

What are the expectations to become an orange belt from a white belt?
I dont know about these days but 27yrs ago around 8 months at a average school :)***
Reply:It sorta depends on your school, because belt colors are different at different places (i.e. some schools dont have blue or orange belts, and some start with pink instead of white, which I always thought was lame). My school is White%26gt;Yellow%26gt;Orange%26gt;Green%26gt;Brown%26gt;Red%26gt;Blue... It really depends on your age (like juniors classes take longer just because it takes more time to undertsand and memorize stuff), also it depends on how often you go. Plus it takes longer with each consecutive belt because you have to retain previous knowledge and incorperate new concepts. Anyway, assuming you start on in January with a white belt, and need a yellow then an orange I would say you could get the orange in October if you dedicate yourself (do the math, thats 10 months). Also note, some schools take july/august off.
Reply:might wanna elaborate dude it depends on the school u go 2 sum peeps ranks in colors r different except for blk n wht of course but ya

Anybody know how to make HEALTHY orange chicken?
I am crazy about orange chicken but not exactly crazy about how much fat or calories is in them. Does anybody have tips or a recipe on how to make orange chicken healthy? (If possible, with real oranges instead of artificial flavoring?)
Anybody know how to make HEALTHY orange chicken?
Here is a healthy quick dinner recipe that is simple to prepare, then cooks quickly in only 15 minutes in the oven while you prepare a box of rice pilaf and green vegetable. This healthy quick dinner recipe will help solve tonight's dinner crisis and provide you with a winning entrée fit for a company meal. As a bonus, it can be halved or expanded to fit the number of servings needed and uses only one bowl and one baking dish, so cleanup is easy.
If you're a dark meat fan, you could also use chicken thighs and legs for this recipe, but you would need to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
Healthy Quick and Easy Orange Chicken Dinner 4 chicken breast halves, skinned and boned
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary, crumbled
pinch black pepper
1 cup orange juice
grated rind of 1 orange
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Arrange the chicken breasts in a 13x9x2" baking dish
Drizzle the chicken with the melted butter and sprinkle with paprika.
Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over the chicken.
Bake uncovered for 15 minutes, until fork tender, basting occasionally with the pan juices.
Serving Suggestion: Serve with a wild rice pilaf and green beans or a salad.
Reply:well first try baking the chicken instead of frying it. and use orange marmalade
Reply:4 chicken breast halves, boneless and skinless
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 teaspoon leaf tarragon, crumbled
1/8 teaspoon pepper
salt (optional)
1 cup evaporated skim milk
Directions:
Flatten chicken breast halves. Saute in butter in large skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through (about 8 minutes). Remove to platter, cover and keep warm.
In same skillet, saute onion until tender but not browned. Add juice, tarragon, pepper and (if you feel it necessary) salt. Stir in milk; cook, stirring constantly until hot and slightly thickened. Spoon over chicken and serve.

Anybody know how to make HEALTHY orange chicken?

This healthy quick dinner recipe will help solve tonight's dinner crisis and provide you with a winning entrée fit for a company meal. As a bonus, it can be halved or expanded to fit the number of servings needed and uses only one bowl and one baking dish, so cleanup is easy.
If you're a dark meat fan, you could also use chicken thighs and legs for this recipe, but you would need to adjust the cooking time accordingly.

How to kill worms in mandarin orange tree?
I have a mandarin orange tree that looks healthy from the outside but I find little white worms in about 1 out of 3 oranges. I have read that this is probably caused by moths or other insects laying their eggs on the buds. Is the whole tree infected with worms? How can I get rid of the worms and prevent them in the future? Are these fruits with worms still safe to eat or do I have to throw all the oranges away?
Thanks
How to kill worms in mandarin orange tree?
a shot gun at close range will do a fantastic job...er actually a product available at Lowe's called Sevin will do it nicely and it is relatively inexpensive. Throw the existing fruit away the buggers are hard to get out from your teeth. Good Luck.
Reply:blow torch :)
seriously though Im sure its not a local problem you could call a pest contractor..this is an excerpt from a search engine i posted the link below this :
There are no chemical controls available for home use, although citrus spray oils do deter infestation if the application is timed to the development of a new flush of growth. Otherwise, it is best to try to ignore the damage; leafminer will not kill the tree and indiscriminate spraying kills a lot of the natural predators and parasites that help to keep leafminer populations down.
There are very few problems of mandarin trees that are life-threatening--and the home gardener cannot do anything about those anyway. Many of the rest of the insects and diseases that afflict mandarin can generally be ignored in the home garden, as blemishes to the peel affect only the appearance, and, in some cases, size of the fruit.
If one must spray, first identify the problem, then select the appropriate material and apply it properly and at the appropriate time to control the pest while minimizing damage to the complex of beneficial organisms that exist in citrus.
Thanks

Did my mom really used to cook orange peels?
I think I remember her putting orange peels on the stove and keeping it at a low heat, and it made the house smell pretty decent. Unfortunately, she's not around for me to ask anymore, so I was just wondering if she did, and how can I do the same thing? Is there any sort oil or water that I should add, or just put in the peels?
Did my mom really used to cook orange peels?
It's funny. I never though of this until I saw this question.
My mom did the same thing and she is goen as well. I asked her best friend about it and she told me tat she used:
Orange peels, Cinnamin Sticks and cloves and kept it on the stove on the lowest setting.
I have one of thoes little potporui simmer things that I am going to try it in.
Good luck!

Its actually is a trick that i picked up from a local real estate agent. She said that buyers walk in and like the smell of something "homey" it will attract them to the house more.
Reply:Sounds like an inexpensive air freshener to me. I'd use an old pan set on low on an electric burner. Just plop the peels in and let 'em get hot...cut 'em up into small pieces - about the size of a pea ought'a do it. Whatever y'do, don't go off and forget about it - eventually, it'll get hot enough to fill your house with smoke that won't smell nearly as good - in fact, you're liable to wind up with a whole houseful of new curtains - and a very pissed off lady of the house!
You can do the same thing with a room humidifier - buy some oil of orange at your local health food store, and when you put water in the humidifier, add a drop or two (and no more) of the oil of orange - it may be called "orange extract" - and turn it on.
In past years, gas stove tops always had a small flame going, called the "pilot light". When you turned on the burner, the pilot light ignited the gas, and when you were done cooking, you shut off the gas - but the pilot light flame kept burning. Gas ovens worked the same way. Due to safety concerns, all gas ovens and stove tops have for years used an electric igniter rather than an open-flame pilot light. Until that change was made in manufacturing, you could set a small pan over the pilot light and keep a small amount of liquid - or a handful of orange peel - warm. Can't do that no more...
Reply:The peels have natural orange oil in them, and yes, she probably put them on to simmer. Would freshen things up for sure. You can also add a cinnamon stick or two and a couple of cloves to the water adn orange peel... just make sure it is on a low simmer, and it doesn't boil dry.
Reply:Sounds like something my mom does. Just put the peels in a pot of water and let it simmer. You can also put cinnamon in it to give an orangy spicey scent if you would like. ( Id use cinnamon sticks if you do that tho...its better)
Reply:Oh yes!!! I do it all the time.....its a homemade Pot Pourri....
boil water in a sauce pan....
add orange peels, apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon peels
Basically anything you want to add to it!! The house smells wonderful for hours.
And afterwards you can strain the water, and add a tea bag....it becomes a Hot Totti!!
Enjoy!!!
Reply:What Sugar Pie said is exactly what my mom used to do too. But when peeling the orange cut just deep enough so you get the peel only no white attached, that the pith might make the mixture bitter if your going to bottle it. Or if your going to make candied orange peel you need it pith free too. Also try adding cloves, and cinnemon, maybe a Star Anise pod or vanilla bean too sure would smell good. Have fun in the kitchen
Reply:I do this a lot...orange peels a few cloves....and let it simmer...during Christmas time I do apples and cinnamon.
just add orange peels and what ever spice you enjoy to water and put on low on your stove.....you will have to add more water from time to time as it evaporates.
another trick...take an apple stud it completely with whole cloves wrap in foil...and set out of the way..I use them in my closets.

What's the best way to remove orange peel from car paint?
My mate has just bought a car at auction which has been recently resprayed and it has an orange peel effect. What is the best way to flatten the paint and give it a nice shine?
Thanks in advance.
What's the best way to remove orange peel from car paint?
Right, this orange peel effect is cause by over exuberance with the laquer. You can correct it, but it's not a job for the faint hearted, and probably best left to a specialist.
Literally wat you have to do is sand the car down with 1600 wet, which will make your car look like it's been attached with a brillo, which is why I say it's not for the faint hearted.
Then you need an agressive cutting paste and a rotary polisher (not an angle grinder!) to flat it out.
Then you'll need a fine cutting paste, and top it off with a good polish.
After that, it will shine better than a new car. Your local bodyshop should be able to do this all for about £100.
You'll never in a million years take it out with Tcut or paint rennovator.
Reply:t cut.
And patients.
Take your time doing the rubbing down.
If you suspect the paint in new, do the rubbing down slowly.
Reply:You can't I'm afraid, you get it on fresh paint its something that happens.
Reply:Proceed with care, abrasive products ie wet and dry, remove paint. If your friend is really unhappy with the finish the only real solution is to seek professional advise, at a car body shop.
Car paint is a thin material, rubbing down paint down all too often leaves a patchy or non existant finish.
Aggressive polishing has the same result.
You are in danger of completely spoiling the paint work.

Can you make a 20 year old orange tree bloom?
My father started an orange tree for me over 20 years ago. It has never bloomed or produced fruit. Is there anyway to get it to?
Can you make a 20 year old orange tree bloom?
I don't know what you've done in the past-- but ....
first thought-- talk to an old orange grower
second thought-- google an ag university that does citrus
third thought-- google citrus itself.
Because---- frequently, plants don't bloom because they are missing something-- might be small-- might not be.
good luck
Reply:Hey,
I think it takes two to tango? Buy another tree so they can cross pollinate!

What other color can I paint one wall, if the other is a burnt orange color?
A soft caramel color would go nicely.
Reply:You can paint the other wall whatever color you want to use. The wall that is already burnt orange is TOTALLY incapable of preventing you from using whatever color you want.
Walls are ACTUALLY inanimate objects with no feelings, no brains and no nervous systems. REALLY!! And that already-painted wall is completely powerless to stop you from doing whatever you wish.

I would go with blood red and lime green, I like color though.
However, most people would suggest neutral colors like a light brown/beige and light green

Reply:It depends on your tast, there's a variety of colors that would work well.
For a monochromatic look, you'd go with other shades of orange.
Or there's blue, which is a complimentary color to orange, so I'd maybe get some paint chips of blue's you like and try them next to the burnt orange.
Or you could go with reds and yellows (this is called analogus).
And lastly, theres triadic - with your burt orange you'd use a shade of green and shade of purple.
All would work really well, it just depends on your personal taste and what colors you want.
Reply:This could be a bit tricky. Pick up a color wheel and look for a color that is oposite the orange (blues, purples). Tape chips up and look at them for a few days before you choose.
Reply:It depends where the light hits the walls.
But varying browns (anything from cream to crimson) or greens are good (I'm doing the outside of my house in Phoenix (stucco walls) in 2-tone browns with mid-green doors. Inside, I have all white of the typical cookie-cutter house (built 1999) that I want to texture with various browns. I'm also putting in new doors with more (security) glass to let in more light to one side of the room.
Accentuating vaulted ceilings looks cool too.

Reply:a soft eggshell color is nice with orange. I have a rent house and the tenant recently redid the kitchen cabinets in eggshell with orange trim plus light orange tile on the floor and yellow curtains. It sounds awful but it is beautiful.
Reply:I would make 3 one color and add just one extra wall color for an accent. You want to stick with the same tone so anything too light won't blend in well and will stick out too much. I'd choose a chocolatey brown or a lighter(or darker) shade of the burnt orange you have now.

How long I can store fresh carrot, orange and grapefruit juice before they lose any of their vitamins.?
I bought a juicer and am going to begin juicing fruits and veggies. I would like to do as much ahead of time so I do not have to clean the machine as often but I do not want to do so far ahead that I lose the nutrients. So need to know how fast carrots, orange and grapefruit juices begin to lose their nutrients when stored in the 'fridge.
How long I can store fresh carrot, orange and grapefruit juice before they lose any of their vitamins.?
Fair question. Unfortunately they will start to lost some vitamin efficacy from the moment you turn on the juicer. From a practical standpoint you probably have a few days if the juice is kept in the refrigerator.
Two other points you should be aware of"
1. The answer above depends a great deal on which vitamins you are talking about. For example the fat soluble vitamins (A D E ) are stable for a long time. Vitamin C on the other hand degrades fairly quickly.
2. Assuming you are not blanching the juice, be aware that you have released a huge amount of enzymes by disrupting the cells, and have not inactivated any of the enzymes. The net effect of this is that some enzymes will degrade or interact with the vitamins. Also some enzymes will cause off flavors to develop after a few days.
Having said all that, it's not meant to discourage you. Fresh juice is pretty good for you and it taste very good. So go for it.

Is is true that giving a child orange juice is bad for their stomach?
I have heard from different friends and family members that giving a child orange juice may be to harsh for their stomach, Is this right?
Is is true that giving a child orange juice is bad for their stomach?
My son is one year old and he's been drinking orange and apple juice since he was about 8 or 9 months. It has never bothered him, but all kids are very different. Some It may bother and some it may not..
Reply:It's hard on my stomach and I'm 29! For this very reason I have not given my one year old any. I just give her the vitamin drops.. I would dilute it with half water/ half juice.
Reply:Depending on age, orange juice and other citrus drinks can be too harsh/ acidic for their tummy. I didn't give my child orange juice until he was about 2 years old and then in moderation.
Its too harsh for my tummy on an empty stomach and I'm 36 years old!
Younger children enjoy apple %26amp; grape juice. I recommend Juicy juice or any other 100% juice, no sugar added juice. I've also discovered that V-8 Fusion (veggie juice with the fruit juice) is an awesome way to slip a few more vegetables into my toddler's diet.
Most pediatricians don't recommend overdoing juice though, as it can cause cavities.
Reply:Until they are at least 24 months old you can give them orange juice diluted so that the acid does not bother their stomach.
Reply:depends how old your child is. Orange juice in general is very acidy which can upset stomachs. You can buy a low acid orange juice or dilute it with some water.
Reply:yes, it can be. orange juice has lots of acid and can be hard on the tummy. It even gives me indigestion if I drink more than a glass. as long as your child is at least one year old (2 years old is better though) then start with 4 oz of juice and see how they handle it. My kids drink it all the time (a small cup) but my friends 2 1/2 year old will have horrible diaper rash if she drinks it.
I have also found juice with no pulp isn't as hard on the tummy and put just a little water in it
Reply:I don't know about their stomach, but it is bad for their teeth if they drink it often enough. The acid can harm the teeth of small children who might hold the juice in their mouths or drink large amounts. They recommend children drink it with a straw.
Reply:orange juice is very acidic. it can cause "diaper rash" or irritate their stomach. you can try to dilute it a bit with water .
my daughter still has a hard time with orange juice,

What does this experiment suggest about the make up of orange colour?
At the start of the experiment, a line was drawn on a paper strip using orange-coloured liquid extracted from a flower. By the end of the experiment, the orange colour separated into a red and yellow colour.
What does this experiment suggest about the make up of orange colour?
The experiment suggests that our perception of the color orange can be triggered by mixing the colors red and yellow.

What do you get when you colour orange hair with purple dye?
I have coloured some of my hair an orangish colour but i would like to change it up. Ideally i would rather not bleach it again for awhile so i was just wondering if anyone knew what would happen if i just put purple over it. I don't know what colour orange and purple would make. Would it be brownish?
What do you get when you colour orange hair with purple dye?
Most likely a duller purple. Probably not brown, though. Just get a really vibrant, almost neon purple, not a light one, and color it.
Reply:What do you get when you colour orange hair with purple dye?
A mess.
Reply:orange is made from yellow and red. purple is made from red and blue. Most propably you get a brownish with red shade.

Wierd orange fungus on my pine tree - what is it? How do I get rid of it?
It appeared in late spring, it looks like grey ball shaped growths that sprout this vile looking orange colored shoots, so it looks like a star. Totally gross, and my pine (which is a cedar or cypress pine) is not looking too hot anymore. What is it and how do I help this tree? I would hate to have to cut it down. By the by, living in central Connecticut. Thanks!
Wierd orange fungus on my pine tree - what is it? How do I get rid of it?
It sounds to me like what you have is Cedar-Apple Rust. This "rust" is caused by a fungus. Most likely your cedar is not the only plant infected in the neighborhood. In fact, ask your neighboors if they have any apple trees (anything in the Apple family: Crabapple, Hawthorne, Apple trees - even Quince shrubs) that have small, rust colored spots on the foliage (plants in the apple family are an alternate host to the disease). You can indeed destroy the diseased plant or you can call your local agricultural extension agent and ask them for recommended fungicide applications.
In the future, look for varieties that are resistant to Cedar-Apple Rust.
Reply:cutr down the tree its a parasite, put me as the best comment i stayed up all nite studying for this on one of my school tests
Reply:check this site to see if what you have is cedar apple rust ... not much point acting on the infection unless you know what it is for sure ... The site has lists of resistant cultivars.
Reply:It is infecting only part of the tree, right? If it is new take it back to the nursery and they will give another one. If it is older, what you have is dutch elm disease. Travels under ground. Symptoms include sudden death of part of a tree. The leaves die suddenly and stay dead on the tree. In your case the needles die suddenly. Your tree went into stress for some reason and could not fight off the disease. It is very common and happens everywhere. I happen to live in Missouri but I go to Ct. a lot. Look around your area. See anything similar? And go to a trusted nursery.

How do I properly raise a blood orange (moro) tree?
I bought a blood orange tree about 3 months ago and its planted in good soil, I have a shade over the top cause teh sun here is merciless and it gets about 125 tops. Its very humid during summers and so far the tree seems to be doing just fine. I keep it watered regulary if not all the time. Its still pretty small. I want to know when it will start growing more. What kind of fertilizer should I use?

How is the inner slices of an orange is called?
When you peel off an orange you have to take the pieces one by one. Some of the clues which I received (though incorrect/doesnot satisfy me)are: pod, segments, flakes or simply slices.

Does anybody know what the name of orange and black bird is that drinks out of my humming bird feeder ?
The bird is yellow orange everywhere except the head and wings. It loves the humming bird feeder. It sings a beautiful sound. Humming birds don't mind it drinking with them !
Does anybody know what the name of orange and black bird is that drinks out of my humming bird feeder ?
It sounds like you have a Baltimore oriole. Besides bugs, worms, etc, they also like the necter that you feed your hummers. If you have large trees nearby look up and see if you can find something that resembles a white-colored silk bag hanging from a high branch. That would be its' nest. And it's a good chance that it has a mate. And yes, it sings a beautiful song as well. Consider yourself very lucky to have this lovely summer visitor around as their numbers have dwindled drastically over the past few years.

How can I clean colored (yellowish orange) leather?
My wallet is now a dirty orange/brown just from using it for a while...
How can I clean colored (yellowish orange) leather?
I use baby wipes to clean everything leather. (sofa, Dooney hand bag, car interior, etc.) They always clean well and I have never had a problem with discoloration.
I always figured if it was safe enough for my babies butt, it was safe enough for leather furniture.
Good Luck!
Reply:First you should clean it with pure soapsuds or with saddle soap according to the directions on the container. To condition it, you can use lanolin or castor oil.

What does it mean when the orange choke light appears on the dashboard for about 10 seconds when going 55mph+?
I have a Vauxhall Astra 1994, and when I drive it at 55mph or more, the orange choke light (I assume this is what this light represents) comes on for about 10 seconds, then goes off again. It may do this once every 7-8 minutes at this speed, but sometimes it appears once and doesn't come back on, even after half an hour on the motorway.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know who makes a orange colored sump pump?
I have an orange colored sump pump in my basement and I would love to buy a backup of the same brand for the future but I have no way of finding out what brand it is because it's currently in the sump. My builder installed it and I have no documentation on it. Thanks.
Does anyone know who makes a orange colored sump pump?
take pic and post it. if not any of the sump pump made today will do a good job. I had one installed last year and it works great
Reply:search -orange pumps -see if that's it.
Reply:Either you have a CAST IRON sump pump or you are getting IRON OXIDE coming in with the ground water. It is normal for cast iron pumps to rust. This doesn't cause any problems. If there is abundant orange coating on the pump and the container it is in, you likely have a lot of iron in your ground water. You can do anything for iron coming in with ground water. You can clean your sump pit and pump occassionally with IRON OUT. You can buy this at any local plumbing store and at a lot of grocery stores in the laundy detergent section.
How can I clear up the orange well water in my swimming pool?
I just bought a small pool (10'x13"). It has a filter and I put in chlorine tablets, but my water is still orange. Please help!
How can I clear up the orange well water in my swimming pool?
I went to the pool company by me and bought Ferritabs as recommended by them. You put them in and they remove the iron in the water. it takes 2-3 days but DO NOT add any more chlorine until it is clear as it just makes it worse!!

Can someone help me fix this recipe for orange bread? Or do you have another recipe you'd like to share?
It's a quickbread, like banana bread, and it came out too dense and rubbery. Can you tell me how to change it so it comes out lighter, but still flavorful and moist?
4 1/2 c flour
2 1/4 t baking powder
1/4 t baking soda
2 1/2 c sugar
1 1/4 c veg oil
1/2 T salt
1/2 c orange zest
1/4 c light corn syrup
4 lg eggs, beaten
2 1/2 c water (sounds like too much to me)
1 1/4 c evap milk
1 1/2 T orange extract
Sift together dry ingredients. In another bowl, combine eggs, zest, oil, corn syrup, water, evap milk %26amp; orange extract. Add to dry mix, stirring until combined (I had to use a mixer to get rid of lumps). pour into 2 greased loaf pans %26amp; bake at 350 for 50-60 min.
The flavor is nice %26amp; orange-y, but I wonder if I could use orange juice in place of some of the water to add even more flavor. Or does the acid do something to the leavening ingredients?
Also, could I use melted butter in place of some of the oil for added richness?

I would omit the corn syrup alltogether. never seen a quick bread recipe using it .also substiting oj for water is a great idea. the acid in the juice will help activate the baking soda. one last thing over mixing can create a very dense and rubbery loaf.
Melted butter is a great addition for flavor and richness.

orange bread with orange juice and walnuts
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons finely grated orange peel
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt; stir with fork to mix. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or fork.
In a small bowl, beat egg slightly; stir in milk, orange juice and grated orange peel.
Add to flour and shortening mixture, stirring only enough to moisten all ingredients. Fold in walnuts or pecans. Spoon mixture into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan, spreading to corners. Leave a slight depression in center of loaf. Let stand 15 to 20 minutes. Bake orange bread in preheated 350° oven for 55 to 60 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes; turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Wrap and store orange bread overnight for easier slicing. Serve with softened cream cheese or flavored butter

-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 pk Yeast
1/4 c Sugar
1 T Butter (margarine)
2 T Grated orange rind
1/4 c Hot water
3 c Bread flour
1 t Salt
1 ea Egg
1 c Orange juice (room temp)
Note: No instructions provided. Use normal bread making procedures.
Reply:I do not think the problem is in the recipe. I see where you said you beat out all the lumps. That is your problem. Quick breads need to be just combined dry ingredients with the wet ones. They should be lumpy. If you beat them, they become tough and rubbery. Do not overmix the wet and dry ingredients and you will have light breads.

How do I get rid of orange tanning skin?
I went tanning last night and I guess the lotion that the lady gave me also had self tanner in it so when i woke up this morning i was orange and streaky! I have a wedding i have to be a part of on Saturday! How do i fix this or get rid of it? Help!
How do I get rid of orange tanning skin?
lemon juice! also the more lotion (regular) u rub on ur skin, the faster the fake tan wears off.
:D
Reply:Get a body scrub, and use it with a body pouf in the shower. A loofa sponge would work well too. Any of the things I listed will help exfoliate your skin, and will help remove the self tanner. Self tanner only sits on the top layer of your skin, which is why it will come off gradually just from regular bathing alone. The loofah or body scrub will help speed up your skin's natural exfoliation, and help get rid of the streaks faster.
Reply:shower and scrub really hard...the lotion should come off
Reply:try buttermilk or peroxide cuz they whiten your skin, DON'T GET IT IN YOUR HAIR THOUGH!!!

What color eye-shadow should I wear with my orange prom dress?
I have a bright orange prom dress that poofs out at the end. It has tiny blue and orange beeds on it. I have a red hair, and I'm light-skinned. I am thinking about getting a spray-tan that is just one shade darker than my skin tone for my dress. I am not sure what color eye shadow to wear. I like the "smokey-eye" look, but I'm not sure what colors. Do you have any ideas?
What color eye-shadow should I wear with my orange prom dress?
Wear a gold shimmery base with a brown frosty espresso in your crease(frosty dark brown not black). If dark brown is a little to deep for your taste try a coppery brown instead. Use a dark brown mascara and dark brown liner. Apply a dark brown liquid on top of the eye liner. This will prolong your wear and give you more of an evening look. Use a bronzer as a blush. For lip color fill in your entire lips with a lip liner in a coral or warm shade (this will stain your lips and keep your lips colored for the night) apply a matching lipstick over the lip liner. apply a shimmer lip gloss to the center of your bottom lip.(merle norman sells lip pencil plus it has liner on one side and lipstick on the other try coral rust or peach brandy. There small and easy to take along). Most important have a great night!
Reply:Don't do smoky. Your dress is already dramatic You don;t want to be over the top. So do like a brown with sparkles ..
Reply:Last year for prom I had kind of a burnt orange dress and I did the whole "smokey-eye" thing too. I used silver and brown I think. I don't know how that would look with flat out orange but I thought it looked great with burnt orange.
Reply:I would do a dramatic look that matches your features; eye color, skin tone, hair color, etc. You can do a "virtual makeover" to give you an idea of what it might look like on you.

Reply:hmm honey i would find an eyeliner that matched the beads of your dress and then blend it with a gold on top of it... you dont want tooo much!
Reply:I would opt out on the eye shadow, I think that would just be too much color and you'd end up looking clown-ish. Instead, use a *little* black eyeliner on your top lids and get some nice mascara. Your eyes will still stand out, without looking over the top
Reply:What color are your eyes, I think green with some light brown or gold. If your eyes are green or brown I think this would look really good. If they are blue, blue eyeshadow on the lid and lighter shade under the brow.
Reply:I think golds, browns, copper and navy blue would look nice.
Reply:gold or light brown
try something fun like turquoise eyeliner

How do you get rid of orange/rust tinge on pool liner?
We have an inground pool that was covered with a mesh liner during off season (we live in New England). Since we had soooooooooo much rain, our pool finally cleared (to a degree) after about a week or so. BUT! We now noticed for the first time, our 2-year-old liner has an orange/rust colored tinge to it on the steps, some of the walls of the liner and parts of the bottom of the liner. We vaccuumed the heck out of it and added shock and all the other things one adds to no avail. Anyone know what this is, how to get rid of it and approximately how long it takes to go away?
Thank you all so much in advance!
How do you get rid of orange/rust tinge on pool liner?
shock will not remove a metal stain, which is probably what you have since it cannot be brushed up. the best course of action is to take a water sample into your local pool store and have them test for metals (iron) present in the water. the metals are an impurity existing in cheaper chemicals that were added during last year and have precipated, coating the liner and stairs. an iron chelating agent (if iron indeed is the culprit) should remove it within a few days.
in the future, it is best to buy higher grade chemicals from your local pool store. big box stores do sell cheaper, but the quality is poor and metal staining is always a problem since the chemicals arent as refined.
