I got a magenta permanent marker on a orange cotton shirt. I have only worn the shirt twice before. I would like to get the marker stain out without bleaching the shirt. Anyone know how?
How do you get out permanent marker out of a orange cotton shirt?
I had a black cotton shirt that had silver permanent marker on it for a long time and i didn't even realize, plus it baked in the heat of my car.
First I soaked the shirt in oxyclean and hot water.
Then I mixed oxyclean and a little water to make a paste and put it right on the stain. I let it dry and get all crusty. When that happened I scrubbed it with like the fabric of the shirt, rubbing it together. It hadn't come out all of the way but I noticed it was A LOT lighter. So i made the paste again, let it dry, and washed it off again.
Then I soaked it in oxyclean yet again for a few minutes, swishing it around in my bathroom sink. Ran it through some warm water, and then popped it in the washing machine with regular detergent.
I did it all out of curiosity and the fact that I LOVED this shirt to bits. I took it out of the washer and it was all gone. I was totally impressed.
Kinda a long process but it was worth it me, especially since we have oxyclean at my house all the time anyways.
Reply:you could try color safe bleach on it. or a tide to go pen.
good luck!!
Reply:cut out the stain...it is called "permanent" for a reason.
Reply:You don't. Sorry.
Reply:Try hand cleaner, the type the guys at the auto body shops use, before you launder the shirt you have to rub the cleaner in both sides of the fabric where the stain is, really work it into the fabric, then wash the shirt! It worked for me getting out black hair color. Good Luck!
Reply:you cant get that out because if u put it in bleach it will turn white.
Reply:nail polish remover . try it. it works on other things, i dont no the effects of it on clothing. i never tried it on clothing.
