How do you get out permanent marker out of a orange cotton shirt?

I got a magenta permanent marker on a orange cotton shirt. I have only worn the shirt twice before. I would like to get the marker stain out without bleaching the shirt. Anyone know how?

Spray hairspray on it %26amp; let it soak in. Then wash it normally in COLD water. LET IT AIR DRY, DO NOT IN YOUR DRYER. Repeat if necessary. Once you dry it in a dryer you will have eliminated the possiblity to get it out.
Reply:spray it with aerosol hairspray...completely soak the area, then let it dry.wash...it should come out
Reply:Get the area wet and spray hairspray on it. Let it sit for a while, but don't let it dry. Get it really wet again and put more hairspray on. Just keep doing that and try to rub the stain out. There are no guarantees it will come out, but you should be able to get the majority of it out. This happened to me on a pair of khaki pants and I was able to save them.
