How do i get oranges out of my orange tree?

I have one 20 year old large orange tree that has spikes growing the branches. The other tree is about 7 years old and no spikes. I heard you need a male and female orange tree but i never get flowers to polinate? Does anyone know any tricks or know what i need?

How do i get oranges out of my orange tree?
1. Citrus trees do not have male and female trees.

2. The only reasons that trees will not bloom are neglect, and if they are shaded by other trees. You should have a few fruit even in these cases. Fertilize your trees with any good fertilizer containing micro nutrients. Do this 3 or 4 times per year. If you can spray them with a citrus nutritional spray you can speed up the growth process. Citrus will absorb some nutrients through their leaves. A citrus oil spray will clean up any accumulated insect pests. Citrus oil is approved for organic citrus production. Both of these items should be available at a garden center at modest cost. Water your trees regularly if you do not get enough rain.

Citrus are easy to take care of but they do need some fertilizer or the trees gradually decline.
Reply:Very cool - I don't have an answer for you; just thought it was neat that you have orange trees. I've never even SEEN one except in pictures! I live in Washington, near the Canadian border, and it's MUCH too cold to grow them. We have good apples, though.

Have a good day :-)
Reply:I have 2 in My garden and use a Long telescopic stick with a Wire Cup-shaped holder to pick Mine.

Those spikes can be really painful(Found out Last November when I pruned the tops of them!).

Home Depot have them.
Reply:water 3 times a week in a 2 foot across, 1 foot deep, moat you dug with a shovel at the tree base or you wont see any oranges. soak twice for the water has to reach the roots that are deep.
Reply:water it and throw some miracle grow on it
Reply:buy a monkey or crash your car into it
